About The Walking Universe
We are a small studio with an outsized ambition: to change how the world experiences a place. We film cities on foot in 4K, then use today's tools, AI among them, to turn real streets into walks you can step inside from anywhere. This is not another travel channel. It is a new way to see the world before, instead of, and on the way to actually being there.
Our thesis
For a hundred years, travel content was something you watched. The next medium is something you enter: immersive, interactive and personal, responding to the season, the hour and the mood you choose. We are building the catalogue and the technology for that shift at the same time, one city at a time, so that the moment it becomes the way people explore the world, the world is already here to walk.
How we work
The advantage of a studio this size is speed. We pair a small, obsessive crew with modern tooling so we can produce, personalise and ship at a scale that used to need a newsroom. Technology is how seven people cover a planet.
01 · Production
Editing, colour, sound and captioning move in a fraction of the old time. A handful of editors ship like a full studio, roughly five long films and a short every week.
02 · Scouting
We use AI to research routes, seasons and the light worth chasing, so each shoot is deliberate. Less wandering, more of the moments that actually matter.
03 · Product
Choose a season, time of day and weather, and watch the same street change in 4K. An interactive layer over our footage that no passive feed can copy.
04 · Experience
Content that responds to the viewer rather than playing at them. The way the next generation already expects to explore: on their terms, in their order.
05 · Virtual to real
Every walk connects to Tralendr, our trip planner. We do not just earn attention, we turn it into real, booked journeys. A model, not a feed.
06 · Audience-led
Our community votes on the cities and scenes we shoot next. Production follows real demand, which keeps a small team capital-efficient and rarely wrong.
The team

Where it started
The Universe began as one person's walks. Ajay, a technologist and product manager in London, turned a love of filming into a global vision. That story still matters, but today it is a chapter, with a talented team writing the next ones.
Questions
The Walking Universe is a travel content studio that films the world’s cities on foot in 4K and turns those real streets into immersive virtual walks you can step inside from anywhere. It started as the YouTube channel The Walking London and grew into a multi-city network across London, New York and Europe.
A virtual walk is an interactive route you step inside from the web. With “Set the Scene” you choose the season, time of day and weather, and the same street plays back in 4K to match — so you can experience a place before, instead of, or on the way to actually being there.
London, New York and Europe are live now. Miami and India are next, with Tokyo on the horizon.
Tralendr is The Walking Universe’s sister product: an AI-assisted trip planner at tralendr.com. Every virtual walk links to Tralendr so you can turn the route you just watched into a real, bookable trip.
It was founded by Ajay, a technologist and product manager in London, who started The Walking London in 2022 with a rainy-night walk and a camera. Today a talented team makes the films across the network.
The journey ahead
We're looking for storytellers, travellers and filmmakers who see beauty in everyday streets. With The Walking Miami and India on the way, and Tokyo on the horizon, the journey to make travel as real as being there has only just begun.
Our story
Ajay is the founder of The Walking Universe. A technologist and product manager in London, he turned a personal love of filming into a global vision.
It began in 2022 with a rainy night walk through the streets of London, a camera, and no real plan. That one video became a habit, the habit became a channel, and the channel became The Walking London. Today it has more than 30,000 followers, over 7 million views and 580+ films, all capturing real streets, real sounds and real moments in 4K.
What drew him in were the reflections on rainy streets, the beautiful windows of London, the well-dressed people, the parks, and the history and architecture of the city.
In 2024 the work grew beyond one city, with The Walking New York and The Walking Europe. The mission stayed the same: bring the world's cities a little closer, one step at a time.
We are a small, growing group of creators, explorers and storytellers who want to change how people experience travel. What started as a single YouTube channel is now a multi-city network, and we are building Tralendr alongside it, a trip planner that makes a real visit as easy as watching one.
The vision is to build a premium, global travel-media brand in the spirit of Condé Nast and National Geographic, with the next chapter written by a talented team.
